After months of interesting developments, Spider-Man is swinging back into action.

Tom Holland posted the first picture from the Spider-Man 3 set, showing us it’s officially begun filming. The pic shows Holland in costume and in a classic Spidey pose with a mask, and, as one might expect of both our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man and Tom Holland, the caption comes with a plea to everyone to wear a mask: “Wear a mask, I’m wearing two…”

The picture only serves to confirm Tom Holland is one of the busiest actors in Hollywood. Wrapping filmed on the set of Sony’s Uncharted movie only a week ago and jumped right into filming the next Spider-Man movie. Toward the end of the Uncharted production, Holland posted our first look at him as a young Nathan Drake, though we still have yet to see pics of Mark Wahlberg as Sully.

Both of these are exciting developments, but Spider-Man 3 is by far the most exciting. For a few months now, I’ve speculated that Sony and Marvel are quietly working on a giant, cross-studio multiverse between them. This is born out by the fact Benedict Cumberbatch is now showing up in Spider-Man 3 as Doctor Strange, the news of The Amazing Spider-Man 2‘s Jamie Foxx reprising his role of Electro in the new Spider-Man movie, JK Simmons already reprising his role of J. Jonah Jameson from the Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies, and Spider-Man: Homecoming‘s Vulture, played by Michael Keaton, showing up in the trailer for Sony’s Morbius movie.

They’re pretty clearly building up to a Sinister Six movie. The only question now is, will those villains and characters come from both studio movie universes? If so, it opens up a massive new world of possibilities. We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for news from the Spider-Man 3 set.
