Stephen King has always enjoyed regular Hollywood adaptations, but recent years have seen a resurgence in adaptations of his books, thanks to them hitting on so many themes that are relevant today. We’re in a King of Horror renaissance, and the fact that there are no fewer than half a dozen movies and TV shows based on his work scheduled to hit screens big and small this year is a testament to that. If you’re a Stephen King fan, you’ll be eating good in 2025 and beyond.

The Monkey (In Theaters Now)

The Running Man (November 7)

Synopsis: The novel is set in a dystopian United States during the year 2025, in which the nation’s economy is in ruins and world violence is rising. The story follows protagonist Ben Richards as he participates in the reality show The Running Man, in which contestants win money by evading a team of hitmen sent to kill them.

The Long Walk (TBD)

Synopsis: A group of teenage boys compete in an annual contest known as “The Long Walk,” where they must maintain a certain walking speed or get shot and killed, with the last survivor winning.

Synopsis: The plot centers around Luke Ellis whose parents are murdered in the middle of the night by intruders. Luke wakes up at The Institute in a room that looks just like his own, except there’s no window. Outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents, such as telekinesis and telepathy, who got there the same way Luke did.
