Michael Myers will be terrorizing us again in theaters soon.

Halloween 2, the sequel to 2018’s hit rebootquel from Blumhouse and director/co-writer David Gordon Green, is set to start shooting after Labor Day this year, Collider reported Thursday. The sequel will be released on October 16, 2020, a date Blumhouse and Universal Studios had earmarked previously for an “Untitled Blumhouse Film.”

Jamie Lee Curtis is expected to officially sign on to the sequel, reprising her role as the very capable and unf**kwithable Laurie Strode. Collider also reports that Curtis’ Halloween costars, Judy Greer and Andi Matichak, are expected to return as Laurie’s daughter and granddaughter, respectively, who teamed up with Laurie to defeat Michael in the last installment.

A representative for Blumhouse had no comment as of press time.

A somewhat sizable question mark surrounding the news is if director Green or his co-writer, Danny McBride, will be back for more scares with The Shape. While Collider’s sources say Green wrote the script and is expected to return behind the camera, it’s not yet officially a done deal. The indie director’s sensibilities proved to be a welcome shot in the arm for the franchise, as his movie was a hit with fans and critics, and at the box office, where it grossed $255 million globally on a reported $10 million production budget.

Where we last left the Family Strode, Laurie and her brood were in the back of pick-up truck that was speeding away from Laurie’s fortified compound. There, she and her daughter lured Michael into a trap that ended with the unstoppable killer seemingly burning alive. But fans of the genre know that not even a backdraft inside an enclosed space can keep Michael and his murderous ways down.

No story specifics are known at this time, but fans can expect a new supporting cast of potential victims being introduced as Laurie and her family deal with a Michael Myers out for revenge.

October 16, 2020 cannot get here fast enough.
