Dylan O’Brien Talks About Near-Death Accident On Maze Runner Movie
In 2016, while filming the final move in the Maze Runner trilogy, Maze Runner: The Death Cure, Dylan O’Brien suffered a nearly life-ending injury while performing a stunt involving a car. The stunt in question involved him being strapped to the top of a moving car, but the harness failed and O’Brien was yanked off the vehicle and hit by another speeding vehicle. The accident was highly publicized at the time, but it took O’Brien a year before he had recovered both physically and emotionally to the point he could talk about it, as well as decide he wanted to return to acting. His fear was understandable: He endured a severe concussion, brain trauma, and facial fractures bad enough that the entire right side of his face had to be rebuilt.
With the passage of eight years, and the maturity that comes with age and professional experience, O’Brien has recently opened up about the fact that he blames the studio for dismissing his safety concerns. In a new interview with Men’s Health, O’Brien had quite a bit to say about what went wrong and what he’s learned since then, including how toxic the workplace can be for a young actor.
“It was a life-changing incident. I’ve approached everything differently, you could say, particularly with regards to standing my ground on set. It’s very commonplace in the culture for young actors to be controlled, and the way they strive to do that is by always being like, ‘Oh, don’t become difficult. Don’t be a pain in the ass. Or Are you complaining, are you being difficult?’ Things like that.
“Don’t let them manipulate you into thinking that is being difficult, because I can look at that day and know I was a 24-year-old kid who was raising concerns about how we were approaching things, and they were not listened to, they were not respected. And then what happened happened. And by all accounts, it was all pretty gotten away with, I would say, as well.
“I know the person I am, and the character I bring to set, and the way I treat people and the way that I treat a workspace, and I know I’m not difficult. I know I’m not an asshole. I know I was trying to protect myself that day, and so I’ve just never forgotten that. That’s always rung true as being the thing to hold with me.”
He went on to say that during his recovery, he learned not to conflate taking care of himself with looking after himself, and that at the end of the day, it’s up to him to trust himself and have his own back.
The Cast Grows For The Glen Powell-Led Adaptation Stephen King’s The Running Man
One of the more anticipated Stephen King adaptations coming up is Edgar Wright’s version of The Running Man with Glen Powell in the lead. Powell has been attached for a while, but new actors are also being added, first Andor and Love Lies Bleeding actress Katy O’Brian, and now All American‘s Daniel Ezra. O’Brian’s star is quickly growing in Hollywood thanks to her work in the Star Wars universe and the aforementioned indie Love Lies Bleeding opposite Kirsten Stewart. For his part, Ezra has anchored the CW show for six seasons and been a genuine breakout in the role.
The Running Man will adapt Stephen King’s (under the pseudonym Richard Bachman) 1982 dystopian sci-fi novel set in 2025 America where violence is rising and society is breaking down. In it, a group of contestants compete in a deadly reality show, The Running Man, where they win money if they survive the squad of hitmen sent to kill them: Win $100 for every hour they stay alive, win another $100 for every cop or hitman they kill, and, if they can stay alive for a full 30 days, they win a billion dollars. Glen Powell will play protagonist Ben Richards, an impoverished father whose daughter desperately needs money for medication and treatment.
The Running Man is set for release on November 21, 2025.
Sydney Sweeney & Amanda Seyfried Are Teaming Up For The Housemaid
In recent years, Paul Feig has swiveled from comedies to thrillers, and he has his next one lined up: The Housemaid. Lionsgate has tapped him to direct the screen adaptation of the bestselling novel by Freida McFadden; Rebecca Sonnenshine wrote the screenplay. Now, it’s been revealed that Sydney Sweeney has signed on and Amanda Seyfried is close to closing her deal to star opposite Sweeney.
The novel follows Millie, a struggling young woman who is thrilled to land a job as the housemaid of wealthy couple Nina and Andrew, seeing it as an opportunity for a fresh start. The couple’s secrets, however, are dark and dangerous and Millie soon finds herself entangled in their lies. Sweeney is set to play Millie and Seyfried will play Nina. Andrew has not yet been cast.
Matthew Lillard Has Good Things To Say About Five Nights At Freddy Sequel Script

A quick hit here, but a fun one. Matthew Lillard, who was in last year’s hit horror video game adaptation Five Nights at Freddy’s with Josh Hutcherson, has teased a promising update about the shooting schedule and script for the sequel. Speaking to Collider, Lillard confirmed he’d gotten his dates for shooting and has seen the script:
“So this morning, I got a text with my dates. So, my dates are the beginning of November and another series of dates. So, we’re going to work. I’m really thrilled. I think the script’s fantastic,” he said. He went on to explain the rest of the cast shares his sentiments. “The whole cast is great, and I think we’re all excited to come back. I think we learned a lot in the first film. I think the second film is going to sort of benefit from those things. We’re all excited about where the movie is at right now.”
Considering the last movie was released during the writer’s and actor’s strike, it will be fun to see them actually get to promote the sequel.
Will Smith & Michael Bay Reteaming For Action Movie Fast & Loose
Michael Bay and Will Smith first teamed up almost 30 years ago for 1995’s Bad Boys. They’ve worked together a few times since then, but it’s been a few years since they have worked together. Excitingly, they’re returning to the action world with a new movie, Fast and Loose. Right now, the movie is set for Netflix but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the streamer give it a run in theaters depending on how it turns out.
The movie follows a man – presumably Smith’s character – who wakes up in Tijuana, Mexico, with no memories of his life or who he is. As he pieces the puzzle together, he learns he’s been living two separate lives: one as a respected CIA agent, and the other as a criminal kingpin. A tentative release date has not yet been announced, but considering it’s a Will Smith/Michael Bay joint, it should be fun.
