At what was arguably the weirdest Oscars awards ceremony ever, two things dominated the night: Will Smith and Dune. The biggest shocker of the night wasn’t a surprise or a snub, but things getting rather heated between Smith and host Chris Rock. But while that dominated the night’s buzz, Denis Villeneuve’s Dune dominated the stage, leading all nominees to take home six wins: Best Sound, Best Original Score, Best Production Design, Best Film Editing, Best Cinematography, and Best Visual Effects.

Meanwhile, Sian Heder’s CODA took home three gold statues, including the biggest prize of the night in Best Picture, with its other two wins coming for Best Supporting Actor for Troy Kotsur and Best Adapted Screenplay. The Eyes of Tammy Faye followed with two wins for Best Makeup and Hairstyling and Best Actress for Jessica Chastain. In a great moment, Jane Campion won Best Director, making it the first time in Oscars history that a woman won the category two years in a row (last year saw Chloé Zhao take the win for Nomadland).
