Indian movies have started gaining overseas popularity in recent years thanks to huge hits like RRR and the next big movie out of India is Kalki 2898 AD. Directed by Nag Ashwin, it stars Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Saswata Chatterjee. While it’s a post-apocalyptic sci-fi epic, it digs deep into traditional Hindu mythology. A group of specialists are sent on a mission to save the unborn child of a lab test subject as that child is the prophesied avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu.

With Kalki 2898 AD planned as the first of a movie series, it could be one of the bigger movies out of India this year (get tickets here). Still, that’s not the only great Indian movie in theaters now or coming soon. Here are a few others to check out.
