Keanu Reeves is a legend in Hollywood, both for his kindness and how seriously he takes training for his various roles. His intense training in martial arts and weapons handling for the John Wick franchise is legendary. However, many people don’t know that he’s trained just as hard for every single sequel as he did for the first.

To honor the opening of John Wick: Chapter 4, let’s take a look back at all the crazy stunt and tactical work Keanu Reeves has invested over the years.

John Wick

Reeves is no stranger to action, which helped with his training. However, nothing prepared him for the training for the first John Wick movie, which included hand-to-hand combat, martial arts, stunt driving, and tactical firearms.

John Wick: Chapter 2

John Wick: Chapter 2 really offered the first look at Reeves’ prodigious growth with tactical shooting. Master shooter Taran Butler was brought in to train Reeves, and by the end of it, Butler declared Reeves the best actor he’s ever worked with in regard to his skills with a gun.

But his hand-to-hand combat also had to be leveled up as well. So with the second movie, Reeves was trained not as an actor, but as a stuntman on the film.

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum

Reeves was back with Taran Butler for the third John Wick movie, this time with co-star Halle Berry. As you can see, his skills have grown even more impressive.

“There’s no separation between story and action.” Indeed, it’s hard to know where the acting ends and the action begins when it comes to Keanu Reeves for John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.

John Wick: Chapter 4

If you thought Reeves slowed down and took it easy for the fourth movie, you’d be wrong.

John Wick: Chapter 4 is in theaters on Friday, March 24. Get tickets.
