Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Hashira Training Release Info To Know

Previous releases of the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba series have been inconsistent regarding how long they’ve been in theaters. Some have been treated like special events, while others have stuck around a bit longer. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Hashira Training will be enjoying a longer theatrical run, being in theaters for at least a few weeks. It’s estimated to be opening in 1,600-1,800 theaters across North America, so it’s a wide release that should be available in most areas.

Along with that run comes two different versions of the movie: it will be offered in both the original Japanese language with English subtitles and as an English dub. For those who want an extra kick to their experience, it’s also expected to be shown on IMAX and other large-format screens. As with previous Demon Slayer releases, it’s technically not a separate movie, but a few episodes of the anime packaged as a theatrical release. In this case, it’s the final episode of the third season and the first episode of the upcoming fourth season of the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba series. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Hashira Training wraps up season 3’s Swordsmith Village arc and begins the Hashira Training arc.

The Best Viewing Order For The Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Series

Those who closely follow the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba series likely have no problems following along, but for those who are brand-new to the series and wanting to get into it before seeing the new movie in theaters, it can be difficult to know where to start. It gets even trickier considering the movies are technically episodes of the anime series and there can be some overlap. In general, if you follow the anime and movies in chronological order, you’ll be just fine:

  1. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba season 1 (2019) – The first season of the anime runs for 26 episodes
  2. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train (2020) – This leads from the events of the anime’s first season
  3. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba season 2 (2021 – 2022) – The second season of the series, which encompasses the Mugen Train arc and the Entertainment District arc, runs for 18 episodes. If you watch the Mugen Train movie, there won’t be much you haven’t seen in the first half of the season, though there is some new material. However, if you want to do a speed run through the season, you can skip the first half of season 2 as long as you watch the Mugen Train movie beforehand.
  4. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Swordsmith Village (2023) – As is Demon Slayer‘s pattern, this is a movie that repackages the season 2 finale episode and the first episode of season 3.
  5. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba season 3 (2023) – The third season is the shortest at only 11 episodes, but that’s also because it encompasses only one arc, the Swordsmith Village arc
  6. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Hashira Training (2024) – As already noted above, the movie hitting theaters will be the finale episode of the season 3 Swordsmith Village season and the first episode of season 4 and the Hashira Training arc.
  7. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba season 4 – The fourth season will pick up from where the previous movie leaves off and explore the Hashira Training arc. Season 4 will be releasing some time in spring of this year; if previous seasons are any indication, it should be dropping in April.
