John Krasinski, Emily Blunt Set To Return For ‘Quiet Place 2’

A Quiet Place surprised both Hollywood and audiences in 2018 by over-performing at the box office and delivering one of the most emotionally riveting (and scary) horror movies in recent years. Now, two of the biggest reasons behind that film’s success have officially signed on for the sequel.

Deadline reports that John Krasinski will return to direct Quiet Place 2, along with his wife and co-star Emily Blunt. Krasinski will also be scripting the much-anticipated sequel, which is expected to center on events dealing with other survivors struggling to live in the face of the genre’s most noise-sensitive monsters ever. (Here’s hoping they stocked up on hearing aids.)

Quiet Place ended with (spoiler!) the husband and father played by Krasinski sacrificing himself to save his son and deaf daughter from the alien monsters roaming their compound, while his on-screen (and real-life) wife – played by Blunt – racked the action back on a shotgun as she and her daughter prepared for more alien creature slaying.

Fans have been clamoring for a return to this unique world ever since the first film hit theaters last April. Its opening weekend scored an impressive $50.2M – on its way to an even more impressive box office tally of over $340M worldwide. (A Quiet Place only cost $17M to make.)

Quiet Place 2 hits theaters May 15, 2020.
