2022 is speeding along and February is almost upon us. While there are not a ton of wide releases this month, February offers a great spread of movies, satisfying just about any movie lover’s particular tastes. Kicking off with a big, throwback disaster movie and ending with a tense thriller, the month has a little something for everyone in between, including a splashy rom-com, a long-awaited video game movie adaptation, a Liam Neeson action-thriller, one murder-mystery sequel, and two movies to make us laugh.

Here’s every wide-release movie hitting theaters in February 2022.

Moonfall – Release Date: Friday, February 4

Cast: Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson, John Bradley, Michael Peña, Charlie Plummer, Kelly Yu, Donald Sutherland, Carolina Bartczak

Roland Emmerich doing a throwback ’90s disaster movie led by a talented cast has us excited. Moonfall follows the story of two astronauts and one conspiracy theorist on their mission to save Earth. When something knocks the moon of its orbit, sending it hurtling toward Earth, astronauts Jo Fowler and Brian Harper, along with theorist K.C. Houseman, must embark on a trip to space in a last-ditch effort to stave off the impending diaster. But when they get there, they learn that the moon isn’t what we thought it was and the stakes are bigger than they realized.

Jackass Forever – Release Date: Friday, February 4

The boys are back in Jackass Forever. After 11 years, the Jackass crew reunites for one last chaotic outing. Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Dave England, Wee Man, Danger Ehren, Preston Lacy, Sean “Poopies” McInerney, and Zach Holmes all return, putting their friendship and their unmentionables on the line with their trademark stunts that are so stupid they’re actually awe-inspiring. Who makes it out in one piece? Who gets catapulted into a wall? Whose dangly bits get smashed? All will be revealed when Jackass Forever hits theaters.

Death on the Nile – Release Date: Friday, February 11

After the hit that was Murder on the Orient Express, director and star Kenneth Branagh returns with Death on the Nile. This time, Agatha Christie’s famed detective Hercule Poirot has to unravel the mystery of a murder on the water. Poirot has planned a relaxing vacation aboard a glamorous riverboat steaming down Egypt’s Nile River. But his peaceful break is upended when a fellow guest and it’s up to Poirot to figure out how they died–and who among them is the killer.

Marry Me – Release Date: Friday, February 11

Those looking for a romantic comedy fix will surely get it with Marry Me, releasing just in time for Valentine’s Day. Music superstars Kat Valdez and Bastian are set for the biggest wedding ever, with plans to get married in front of a global audience of millions. But when Kat learns just before they walk down the aisle that Bastian has cheated on her, she breaks off the engagement and spontaneously decides to marry Charlie, a random stranger in the crowd, instead. Can their completely different lifestyles work as they learn about each other?

Blacklight – Release Date: Friday, February 11

One can never go wrong when picking Liam Neeson in an action movie. In Blacklight, Neeson plays Travis Block, a government operative with a shadow past as a spy. But when he uncovers a conspiracy plot targeting U.S. civilians, Block learns the threat is coming from inside. Soon, he finds himself in the crosshairs of the FBI director he had once helped protect as he races against time to stop the plot.

Uncharted – Release Date: Friday, February 18

Cast: Tom Holland, Mark Wahlberg, Sophia Ali, Tati Gabrielle, Antonio Banderas, Patricia Meeden, Sarah Petrick

Sony’s long-awaited adaptation of the Uncharted video game series is finally seeing the light of theaters. The story will focus on a younger version of franchise protagonist Nathan Drake, long before he’s the seasoned explorer that he is in the games. A descendant of famed explorer Sir Francis Drake, young Nathan Drake is set to follow in his footsteps when he figures out the location of the fabled city of El Dorado. With the help of his new friend and mentor, Sully, the pair set out to South America to discover the mythical golden city.

Dog – Release Date: Friday, February 18

Cast: Channing Tatum, Jane Adams, Kevin Nash, Q’orianka Kilcher, Ethan Suplee, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Bill Burr, Nicole LaLiberté, Luke Forbes, Ronnie Gene Blevins

Though it may seem like a sappy drama on the surface, Dog is an unabashed comedy–fitting considering it’s Channing Tatum’s directorial debut. Tatum also leads the cast as Briggs, a U.S. Army Ranger tasked with traveling from Washington State to Arizona with Lulu, a Belgian Malinois military service dog. His mission: deliver Lulu in time for her to attend the funeral of her handler–who also happens to be Briggs’ best friend. But Lulu has a mind of her own and Briggs might snap before they reach the Arizona state line.

The Desperate Hour – Release Date: Friday, February 25

Cast: Naomi Watts, Colton Gobbo, Sierra Maltby

Director: Phillip Noyce

The first great suspense thriller of 2022 arrives in the form of The Desperate Hour (previously titled Lakewood). When the police place the small town of Lakewood on lockdown after an active shooter incident, one mother races against time to save her child. The clock ticks down as the situation escalates and it’s not clear who will make it out alive.
