Fast X is here and engines are revving for the next installment of the Fast Saga. What started out as a humble car heist remake of Point Break has since turned into a globetrotting, over-the-top action spectacle. Even the most recent trailer for Fast X is tongue-in-cheek regarding how much the franchise has evolved:

With all the twists and turns the Fast Saga has taken over the years, you might be forgiven for not remembering who is on whose side and what happened before. To help catch you up, here are some things to remember before heading to theaters to see Fast X.

Is Jakob Toretto A Good Guy Now?

He’s not necessarily good – Jakob Toretto is still a very dangerous guy – but Mia and Dom’s formerly estranged brother is now firmly on Team Dom. Though he was the antagonist in F9: The Fast Saga, the two brothers and sister reconciled by the end. Now, it appears Jakob is part of the family as firmly as anyone else and Dom trusts him with his life.

Did Han & Deckard Shaw Squash Their Beef?

The end of F9 also saw Han show up on Deckard Shaw’s doorstep, seemingly there to settle the score from when Deckard appeared to have killed him back in The Fast & the Furious: Tokyo Drift. He was clearly there for a reckoning, but the Fast X trailer shows that the two apparently team up. While there will likely always be some bad blood between them, it seems they can put their differences aside and work together when they’re facing a common enemy.

Who Is Jason Momoa’s Character & Why Is He Trying To Kill Dom?

To know who Jason Momoa’s Dante is, you have to go back to 2011’s Fast Five. In that movie, set in rio, Dom and the team were contracted by the U.S. government to infiltrate and steal $100 million from the notorious drug kingpin Hernan Reyes. If that doesn’t ring a bell, this is the movie where they pulled a giant safe with a car along the streets of Rio de Janiero. You know the one. In the ensuing chaos, Dwayne Johnson’s DSS agent Luke Hobbs killed Reyes for murdering his men.

Fast-forward years later, and now Reyes’ son, Dante, is out for revenge. Loaded up with drug money, a flamboyant sense of style, and zero morality, Dante is out to burn down Dom’s world and the worlds of everyone he has ever cared about or worked with.

Whose Side Is Cipher On?

Cipher is on her own side. Always. Never trust Cipher.

Who Is Brie Larson Playing?

For months, speculation swirled that Brie Larson would be playing the sister of Brian O’Conner, but that fan theory cast squashed. However, she is playing the relative of another doomed character: Mr. Nobody. Larson’s Tess is the daughter of Kurt Russell’s Mr. Nobody. She shows up to help Dom stay ahead of her dad’s old agency, and also to break Letty out of prison.

Wait, Letty Is In Prison?

Apparently! But prison never holds Dom and his family for long.

Is Anyone Else Miraculously Coming Back From the Dead?

The big news of F9 was the return of Han Lue, who was presumed dead after Tokyo Drift. However, he revealed that Mr. Nobody helped him fake his death and he’d been alive ever since. There haven’t been any big casting announcements, but it’s not impossible to think Kurt Russell might pop up for a cameo. After all, Mr. Nobody appears to be dead by the end of F9. But as we all know, death is often only temporary in the world of the Fast Saga.
