Update (Wednesday, October 21 12:01pm): After previously pulling it off the schedule temporarily, MGM and Universal have found a new release date home for Nia da Costa’s Candyman reboot. The highly-anticipated horror film, which was originally supposed to be released in June of this year will now be hitting theaters next year on August 27, 2021. Sony has moved Ghostbusters: Afterlife from March 5, 2021 to June 11, 2021. It also scheduled Don’t Breathe 2 for August 13, 2021.

Thanks to the unprecedented pandemic, a number of movies have been pulled off the release calendar or juggled around. But the good news is that states have slowly started the reopening process. Movie theaters once shut down and gathering dust are turning their attention to reopening and once again welcoming back moviegoers.

And boy, are audiences excited to see movies on the big screen again. While our early summer blockbuster season might be a little lighter than usual, late summer through the fall will be absolutely stacked.
