UPDATE (Thursday, August 6, 1:00pm): With Disney announcing they were taking Mulan off theatrical entirely and moving it to Disney+ over Labor Day weekend (September 4th), Orion Pictures made the decision to move Bill & Ted Face the Music up a week to August 28th. Its last few moves have seen it moving to August 21st, then September 1st, and now August 28th. It will now open against Fox-Disney’s New Mutants so let’s see if it or the Marvel mutant flick move again. Meanwhile, Lionsgate has decided to send Janelle Monáe horror-thriller Antebellum to premium VOD in North America. It will still be released in theaters in some international markets. It was previously scheduled for a theatrical release before being pulled from the release calendar indefinitely.

—————

Thanks to the unprecedented pandemic, a number of movies have been pulled off the release calendar or juggled around. But the good news is that states have slowly started the reopening process. Movie theaters once shut down and gathering dust are turning their attention to reopening and once again welcoming back moviegoers.

And boy, are audiences excited to see movies on the big screen again. While our early summer blockbuster season might be a little lighter than usual, late summer through the fall will be absolutely stacked.
