Tonight was the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards. Hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, this year’s virtual event was quite different, with Kimmel alone in an empty Staples Center, save for appearances by Jason Bateman and Jennifer Aniston. Other than that, the Academy and ABC tried some interesting things to mimic the feel of a real awards show, from cardboard cutouts of actors in the seats to splicing in old footage of the audience clapping from last year’s awards ceremony.

One thing was very real, though: The emotions and excitement of the winners when their names were called. Schitt’s Creek, Watchmen and Succession won big tonight, reestablishing HBO as an Emmys powerhouse. Veteran actors and young newcomers all took home a golden statue tonight, and, despite the weirdness of everything being virtual, it was an entertaining and absolutely delightful event. Here’s your full list of Emmy 2020 winners.
