Disney Releases A Sweet Teaser Trailer For 'Toy Story 4'

Four long years ago, Disney announced that Toy Story 4 was on the way, and fans were overjoyed to learn they’d get at least one last adventure with Woody and Buzz Lightyear. But finally, the wait is over…sort of. Today (that’s Monday if you’re reading this in the future, you crazy time travelers), Disney released a teaser trailer for the film and it’s, well, let’s just say it’s a very teasing tease.

But even if you were hoping for more, it’s still delightful to once again see Woody, Buzz, Jessie, Slinky Dog, Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head, Rex, Hamm, the Squeeze Toy Aliens, and…and pipe cleaner spoon guy? Hold up, who is that? It’s a brand-new character, Forky! Forky is none too happy about being in the teaser video with the rest of the gang, adamantly convinced he is not a toy and doesn’t belong there. All the other toys, however, seem to think he does, with Woody telling someone to go fetch Forky and bring him back before he hurts himself. This looks to be not simply a throwaway joke for the teaser trailer, but an actual part of the story according to the synopsis Disney released:

Everyone’s favorite pull-string cowboy sheriff Woody, along with his best friends Buzz Lightyear and Jessie, are happy taking care of their kid, Bonnie, until a new toy called “Forky” arrives in her room. According to Forky, a spork-turned-craft-project, he’s not a toy at all—and he’d rather skip this big adventure completely, if only they’d let him.

The trailer might have been all too brief, but I already think Forky might be one of my favorite characters. If “I’m not even supposed to be here!” isn’t a mood for 2018, I don’t know what is. Does this mean we can expect an official, full-length trailer to follow soon? We can only hope!

Toy Story 4 tumbles into theaters on June 21, 2019.
