Deadpool & Wolverine is hitting theaters in a week and the first reactions from critics are in and the response is exactly what you’d hope for. Not much is known about the plot of the third Deadpool movie, as Marvel has been keeping it strictly under wraps. All we know from the trailers is that the TVA (Time Variance Authority) first introduced in Loki will yank Wade Wilson from his normal life and timeline and have him seek out Wolverine to stop a huge threat. We also know from Marvel’s teases, and the general direction of the MCU, that it will change the MCU forever.

And that’s about it.

Well…there is also Dogpool. Really, what other reason do you need to see it?

In fact, Marvel is keeping it so under wraps that (thus far, at least) instead of the normal screening, they offered critics and influencers a 30-minute preview of the movie. Judging from that, we can only guess that whatever’s in the movie is a reveal or surprise big enough that Marvel doesn’t want a single potential spoiler online. Luckily, critics still seem pretty damn happy with what they saw, as first reactions hit social media.

Looper’s Nick Staniforth had this to say:

“I’m never one to say “you’re not ready,” but you really aren’t ready. The excitement levels for #DeadpoolAndWolverine have just gone through the roof. The first 30 minutes prove that Wade and the Wolverine are cutting loose in the best way possible. Gimme the whole film.”

London-based critic Katie Smith-Wong said

“It may have been a 37 minute peek but its enough to tell me that this movie is going to be &:!-£:@“# epic! Can’t wait to see the whole thing! #DeadpoolAndWolverine@MarvelUk

Tessa Smith of Mama’s Geeky said

“I’m completely blown away by what I saw of Deadpool & Wolverine! It goes HARD. Ryan is hilarious (as always) & gels perfectly with Hugh. The action is INSANE! It pokes fun at everything. Best use of Bye Bye Bye ever. 40 mins flew by, can’t wait for the rest! #DeadpoolAndWolverine

The Nerds of Color critic Michael Lee raved:

#DeadpoolAndWolverine looks to give the people exactly what they want from a MCU film that features #Deadpool. A violent and balls to the wall crazy hilarious meta threequel with a sick soundtrack, fun cameos, and so much more. Based on those 40 minutes, it lives up to the hype.”

Screen Rant’s Joe Deckelmeier knows they’ll stick the landing:

“Just saw the first 40 mins of #DeadpoolAndWolverine! Wow! The first 40 mins flew by and is jam packed with a lot! Great music & action! I’m incredibly excited to see the rest of the film. Seems like they’re going to stick the landing.”

Jenna Busch-Henderson of Vital Thrills stressed how hilarious it is:

“Just watched 40 min of #DeadpoolandWolverine footage for @vitalthrillscom & it’s hysterical. The credits alone made me laugh more than several standup specials combined. I rarely say this but two movies about this character weren’t enough!”

Influencer hzjoe03 had the longest reaction – almost a review, really:

“I WATCHED THE FIRST 35 MINUTES OF DEADPOOL AND WOLVERINE! (No spoilers)

No joke, I’m struggling to find any negatives. Despite the Fox merger, this feels like a straight up continuation from Deadpool 2 story and tone wise. Nothing has been toned back, all the comedy hit, and the action was beautiful. Saw lots of you had a problem with the colour grading in trailers, but on screen it’s so much better and the suits are absolutely gorgeous.

The trailers haven’t given much away at all, a majority of the footage you’ve seen happens in the first 30 mins or so and even then, a lot of that 30 minutes were things I didn’t expect at all. They also showed us a snippet of things not in the trailer and it looks INSANE! Begging you to stay away from spoilers for the next two weeks because this movie might blow your mind.

If the full movie is as good as the footage I saw, then this is easily gonna be one of my favourite Marvel films and definitely the best of the Deadpool trilogy!”

Are you hyped? Because we sure are now.
