Bond 25, Daniel Craig’s fifth (and likely last) James Bond movie, still doesn’t have a title — but as of Thursday morning, it finally has a plot and a cast lead by an Oscar winner.

Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody) was finally announced as being cast as the villain, thanks to the Twitter livestream Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson hosted while on location in Jamaica. Malek is joined by Spectre veterans Lea Seydoux (Dr. Madelaine Swann), Ben Whishaw (Q), Ralph Fiennes (M), and Naomie Harris (Miss Moneypenny). Jeffrey Wright, who played Bond’s friend in the CIA Felix Leiter in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, will reprise the role once again. Wright is the first actor in Bond history to play the role of Leiter three times. Rory Kinnear will also return as MI6 mainstay Tanner.

Rounding out the cast of director Cary Fukanaga’s first Bond movie are newcomers Ana de Armas (Blade Runner 2049), Billy Magnussen (Game Night), Dali Benssalah. Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel) and David Dencik. Malek was in New York working on a production, but he was able to announce his involvement via Twitter. Check it out below:

As for the plot, Broccoli said that the film will start with Bond in Jamaica, but he “is not on active service, he is enjoying himself. We’ve got quite a ride in store for him.”

Bond’s break from his unique brand of tradecraft is interrupted when Felix Leiter shows up asking for 007’s help rescuing a kidnapped scientist. That rescue mission turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, according to the film’s official plot synopsis, as Bond soon finds himself on the trail of a mysterious villain (Malek) armed with dangerous new technology.

Fukunaga was also on hand for the broadcast, where he said that Bond 25 locations in addition to Jamaica will include Norway (where the production has already shot), Pinewood Studios, and London. The production is expected to finish in Italy.

The house Bond will reside in the film was glimpsed (still under construction) at the end of the broadcast. Jamaica is a key location in the Bond mythos: It was home to 007 creator Ian Fleming (and his GoldenEye villa) and it is where parts of Dr. No was filmed.

The producers also confirmed that the script is from Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, Scott Z. Burns, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag and Killing Eve) — which likely means that the story director Danny Boyle and his long-standing writer John Hodge developed before they left the project over “creative differences” is no longer in play.

MGM will handle domestic distribution for Bond 25 on April 8, 2020 — the first Bond movie to be released outside the franchise’s usual November corridor that Craig’s films have occupied. (Prior to Craig, Pierce Brosnan’s 007 movies also opened in late November while his predecessors had movies open predominately in summer months.)

As for the title still being kept under wraps, Wilson said it was “a tradition” to keep it a secret — even though Spectre‘s title was announced during that movie’s official launch.

We’ll keep you updated when the title of Bond’s next mission is revealed.
