Twilight star Robert Pattinson has been very public about his aversion to appearing in Hollywood blockbusters, preferring to dive into offbeat indies. But leave it to Christopher Nolan to change the actor’s mind.

Pattinson recently joined Nolan’s next untitled event film, and movie fans have been on the verge of obsessive behavior when it comes to getting story details about the project. Nolan is notoriously very secretive when it comes to his projects, as the actor found out firsthand when he only had one chance to read the script:

“I got locked in a room to read the script — I don’t have it myself,” Pattinson told USA Today while promoting his new project, the sci-fi film High Life. “I’ve been a little wary of doing big movies for years and years, but there’s just something about Chris Nolan’s stuff. He seems like the only director now who can do what is essentially a very personal, independent movie that has huge scale. I read the script and it’s unreal.”

The Dark Knight director is known for having potential collaborators come to his house and read the scripts for his films, and what we wouldn’t give to be a fly on that wall. Nolan has employed this process since around the time of Batman Begins and Dark Knight, where he turned his garage into pre-production offices for his crew to work on and flesh out production designs.

All we know so far about the movie is that the impressive cast also includes John David Washington (BlackKklansman) and Elizabeth Debicki (Widows). Early reports claimed that the “elevator pitch” for Nolan’s follow-up to Dunkirk was “North by Northwest meets Inception,” but studio and distributor Warner Bros. seems to have debunked that – on the other hand, they’re trying to keep details under wraps, so who knows?

While production on the blockbuster, which will be shot with IMAX cameras, doesn’t start until later this year, fans can expect more teases and spilt tea regarding the project before it hits theaters on July 17, 2020.
