We’re halfway through April, and so far, the year has been a great one for movies. As Hollywood gears up for the start of the summer movie season, news keeps percolating. This week brings a hugely entertaining new Marvel trailer, Pedro Pascal hopes, Star Wars news, and more.

As always, Atom Insider brings you a few hand-picked stories we think you’ll like. Ready? Let’s dive in.

Lilo & Stitch Live-Action Movie Adds Billy Magnussen

No Time to Die standout Billy Magnussen has signed on to Disney’s live-action adaptation of Lilo & Stitch, Deadline reports. The remake is picking up steam, with newcomer Maia Kealoha recently being cast as Lilo and Sydney Agudong as Nani alongside Zach Galifianakis, whose role is undisclosed, but it’s being rumored he’s voicing Stitch. It’s also not been revealed who Magnussen will be playing in the movie, which is set to be directed by Dean Fleischer Camp (Marcel the Shell With Shoes On). The original animated movie told the story of a girl and her older sister/legal guardian, who find an alien genetically engineered to be a destructive force and form a little found family. It’s not known if the live-action version, written by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright from a previous draft by Mike Van Waes, will follow the original animated movie exactly or if it will change the story up. Either way, it has the potential to be an incredibly cute Disney remake.

Morena Baccarin & Stefan Kapicic Returning For Deadpool 3 As Vanessa & Colossus

The franchise may have moved from Fox to Marvel/Disney, but it appears a good portion of the original Deadpool gang will return for Deadpool 3. Along with, of course, Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman will join him as Wolverine. It was previously announced that Karan Soni will return as Dopinder and Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, with Brianna Hildebrand rumored to return as Negasonic Teenage Warhead. Now, however, it’s been confirmed that Morena Baccarin will also reprise her role of Vanessa, and Stefan Kapicic will return to voice Colossus. There’s no word on whether Josh Brolin will return as Cable, but considering he’s already had a pivotal role as Thanos in the MCU, it might not be a surprise to learn that Wolverine is replacing him as Wade Wilson’s bestie. The movie has also added two new faces in the form of Emma Corrin (The Crown), who is said to play the villain, and Matthew Macfadyen (Succession). Shawn Levy is set to direct, and Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese have returned to write the script alongside Zeb Wells. Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin wrote a previous draft. With the cast being assembled, it appears Deadpool 3 is on track to begin its planned production in May.

The Marvels First Trailer Is Intergalactic Fun

Marvel has dropped the first Beastie Boys-infused teaser trailer for The Marvels, and boy oh boy, it looks like a fun ride.

According to the trailer, “quantum entanglement” has seen the powers of Carol Danvers, Monica Rambeau, and Kamala Khan become intertwined. Every time one uses their power, they swap places with one of the others. Let chaos reign!

Daisy Ridley Will Star In A New Star Wars Sequel Movie

Those who missed the news coming out of Star Wars Celebration this past weekend can be forgiven for not hearing the biggest announcement: Daisy Ridley is returning to the role of Rey Skywalker in a new Star Wars movie. Officially titled Star Wars: New Jedi Order, the story will take place 15 years after the events of Rise of Skywalker and see Rey, now a Jedi Master, attempting to rebuild the Jedi Order. In other words, think of this as Star Wars – Episode X. The movie is set to be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Ms. Marvel), with Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) on board as writer. Those excited to see Rey back on the big screen will have a while to wait, however – New Jedi Order isn’t expected to hit theaters until December 2027.

Jack Black Wants Pedro Pascal As Wario In Super Mario Bros. Movie Sequel

Even though a sequel hasn’t been confirmed yet for The Super Mario Bros. Movie, star Jack Black already knows one name he’d want to add to the cast if he could: Pedro Pascal. Black, who voices Bowser in the movie, spoke to Game Spot about who he’d like to see as the next villain: “You know, what if there is a more powerful, more evil villain? Then I may need to be turned to help Mario and the rest to defend our universe against some other unseen force of evil. Are you thinking what I’m thinking? Wario. Pedro Pascal is Wario.” Considering The Super Mario Bros. Movie has already grossed $438 million worldwide and Pedro Pascal is one of the hottest actors in Hollywood right now, it’s definitely a strong choice. After all, we did already get a sneak peek of what it might be like…

Perfection.
