It’s been almost 30 years since Ted ‘Theodore’ Logan (Keanu Reeves) and Bill S. Preston, Esq. (Alex Winter) melted our faces off with their band Wyld Stallyns.

Now they’re getting the band back together – literally – with the upcoming Bill & Ted Face the Music. It’s already one of our most anticipated movies of the year, but our excitement just amped up another level thanks to an incredibly cool invite they’re extending to fans and asking them to be part of the movie. Co-writer Ed Solomon first shared the news on Twitter:

If you head to the official website, Party On with Bill & Ted, you’ll see more details. There’s a pre-recorded demo track at the top of the page and fans are invited to record a video of themselves rocking out to it using real instruments, fake instruments, or – in the spirit of Bill and Ted – wailing away on a wicked air guitar. The three steps they give on the site are easy:

  1. Dream It
  2. Film It
  3. Send It

There are a few stipulations, like no tattoos or logos of copyrighted material being visible in the video, keeping videos to 30 seconds, and adhering to local safety guidelines. Other than that, the site encourages you to get as creative and gnarly as possible. You can check out the full details here.

All you have to do is record your video and upload it to the site by May 20th. Obviously, not every video will be used, but there’s apparently a scene in the movie that calls for people rocking along virtually to Wyld Stallyns. It’s a very cool way to get the fanbase activated and allow them the chance to be part of Bill and Ted’s bogus but also most excellent third movie – and maybe even help them save the world.

Thirty years ago, Bill and Ted traveled through time in an effort to save the universe. Now, they’re both dads and the dreams of being famous rockers have faded. They’re still trying to crank out one epic song that will bring them glory, like two middle-aged Rogers in RENT, but their destiny remains unfulfilled. But they’re soon visited by a time traveler from the future who tells them their song must be completed because only it and they can save all life as we know it. So Bill and Ted set off on one last adventure, but this time, they’re aided by their daughters, Billie (Brigette Lundy-Paine) and Thea (Samara Weaving). They’ll also run into new historical figures and musical legends of old in an attempt to finish a perfect song that will bring order to the universe.

Will fans get the chance to help with that? Could be! Send in your video and see what happens.

The movie hits theaters on August 21, 2020. Add Bill & Ted Face the Music to your watchlist and we’ll update you when tickets go on sale.
