I love the slow subtlety of Olivia de Havilland’s character arc in The Heiress, particularly in the way she changes her voice in the progression of the film. Her high, shy delivery slowly shifts into something lower, more purposeful, more confident. The mistreatment of her…

Merkin MuffleyMay 29, 2016Wow. Went in to the Stanford Theatre expecting nothing more than a classic Hollywood romance starring Olivia De Havilland. Came out, my soul thoroughly licked from the beating William Wyler gave it, my brain dazzled by both the film's sharp critique of the patriarchy and…

This was unexpected so good. Olivia DH was incredible masterclass in acting for this film. Clift was incredible too the whole cast was great. The story was a classic but written so well that to my naive eyes I couldn’t tell if he was a golddigger or not
As soon as I saw that guy with that haircut, I knew how this was all going to play out. I felt so bad for Catherine, but then her character arc was so good. Olivia de Havilland's performance as that character was amazing.
