But the Oscar-winner insisted his baddie be unlike any previous terrorist we&#8217;re used to seeing in these types of movies. To ensure that, he made one demand of the film&#8217;s director, Cary Fukunaga, before taking on the role:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI said, \u2018We cannot identify him with any act of terrorism reflecting an ideology or religion. That&#8217;s not something I would entertain,&#8217;\u201d Malek revealed to UK tabloid\u00a0<em>The Daily Mirror <\/em>regarding his conversation with the director.<\/p>\n<p>The actor went on to tell Fukunaga \u201c\u2018So if that is why I am your choice, then you can count me out.&#8217;\u00a0But that was clearly not his vision.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Malek, who is an American of Egyptian descent, is filming what is expected to be Craig&#8217;s last movie as 007. And despite the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atomtickets.com\/movie-news\/bond-25-set-video-daniel-craig-app\/\">production&#8217;s recent set backs<\/a>, the actor has no complaints.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It\u2019s a great character, and I\u2019m very excited&#8230; He\u2019s a very different kind of terrorist.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Plot specifics have been filed under &#8220;For Your Eyes Only&#8221; (reference!), but what we do know is that Malek&#8217;s high-tech terrorist forces Bond in part to come out of the super spy&#8217;s retirement following the events of 2015&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Spectre<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Malek is one of the youngest actors to ever play a villain in a Bond movie, and he continues the franchise&#8217;s recent trend of casting Academy Award winners to play Bond&#8217;s nemesis. Javier Bardem kicked it off with his iconic and menacing portrayal of Silva, the former MI6 operative-turned-cyber terrorist. Two-time Oscar-winner Christoph Waltz took on the role of Blofeld, Bond&#8217;s arch-nemesis, in\u00a0<em>Spectre<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Fans are very eager to see what sparkage Craig and Malek bring to the movie, which hits theaters April 8, 2020.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bohemian Rhapsody\u00a0star\u00a0Rami Malek wants to shake things up for James Bond.
