The suit underwent some minor upgrades in 1990&#8217;s\u00a0<em>RoboCop<\/em>\u00a0<em>2<\/em> and 1993&#8217;s\u00a0<em>RoboCop 3<\/em>, but the overall steel\/titanium finish remained the same. Imagine watching Verhoeven do a follow up film.\u201d Justin Rhodes (<em>Terminator: Dark Fate<\/em>) is helping rewrite the script.<\/p>\n<p>Blomkamp&#8217;s RoboCop movie has been in development since July 2018, when\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2018\/07\/robocop-neill-blomkamp-directing-robocop-returns-justin-rhodes-ed-neumeier-michael-miner-mgm-1202424639\/\">Deadline<\/a> announced that it would be based on a previous script written by original\u00a0<em>RoboCop<\/em> screenwriters\u00a0Ed Neumeier and Michael Miner. The production is keeping story specifics locked down, but we do know the plot&#8217;s vague logline: &#8220;Anarchy reigns and the fate of Detroit hangs in the balance as RoboCop makes his triumphant return to fight crime and corruption.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Yup, sounds like a RoboCop movie.<\/p>\n<p>So why has it taken more than 30 years for this sequel to finally happen? As Neumeier explained to Deadline:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cVerhoeven felt at the time that making one would be <em>de classe<\/em> and he wasn\u2019t interested in the politics of a sequel. Then, the writers strike came along in 1988, and we were force majeured off the project. They brought in Frank Miller on a waiver.
