Another day, another Stephen King book being turned into a movie.<\/p>\n
Salem’s Lot<\/em>, a movie based on King’s second published novel, is in the works from producer James Wan (Aquaman<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0The Conjuring<\/em>) and screenwriter Gary Dauberman (It<\/em>),\u00a0Deadline<\/a> reports. Wan and Dauberman are key creative fixtures in Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema’s\u00a0The Conjuring<\/em>\u00a0Universe, so the two collaborating on this adaptation for New Line more than makes sense.<\/p>\n For fans of King, Salem’s Lot<\/em>\u00a0is high up there on their list of the author’s books deserving of a theatrical release. The novel centers on writer Ben Mears, who returns to the titular town to work on his new book only to discover that the place is quickly becoming home to vampires.\u00a0This is the second time Hollywood has tackled\u00a0Salem’s Lot<\/em>; the first was a 1979 TV movie directed by Tobe Hooper (Texas Chain Saw Massacre<\/em>).<\/p>\n Dauberman has recently become the go-to screenwriter for Stephen King adaptations and for horror. In addition to writing 2017’s horror hit\u00a0It<\/em> and its upcoming sequel, Dauberman has written\u00a0Conjuring<\/em>\u00a0Universe titles\u00a0Annabelle: Creation<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0The Nun<\/em>.\u00a0Annabelle Comes Home<\/em><\/a>, the next chapter in the shared universe of horror films, will serve as Dauberman\u2019s directorial debut.<\/p>\n
