Well, this is a surprise: Noah Centineo\u00a0is in talks to play He-Man in Sony Pictures and Mattel Films\u2019 long-in-development Masters of the Universe<\/em> movie,\u00a0Entertainment Weekly<\/a>\u00a0has confirmed.<\/p>\n

The movie has been in development since at least 2007, when John Woo was attached to direct. Brothers Adam and Aaron Nee are helming this iteration of\u00a0Masters<\/em>, with the previous draft of the script written by\u00a0Batman Begins<\/em> and\u00a0Blade<\/em> scribe David S Goyer.<\/p>\n

Centino is making a name for himself after breaking out last year as one of the romantic leads in Netflix’s popular\u00a0To All the Boys I\u2019ve Loved Before<\/em>. After working with the actor on the upcoming Charlie’s Angels<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>reboot from director Elizabeth Banks, Sony was eager to find another project for him.<\/p>\n

Still no word yet if Centino will go blonde to play He-Man and his pink-vested alter ego, Prince Adam, who defend the fantastical world of Eternia from the evil forces of Skeletor. Fans of the popular ’80s toy line and animated series will recall that Adam turns himself into He-Man with the help of a magic sword and “By the POWER of GRAYSKULL!!!” (Ahem. Sorry.)<\/p>\n

The last time Mattel’s\u00a0Masters of the Universe<\/em> made the jump to the big screen was in the 1987 box office misfire that starred Dolph Lundgren as He-Man and Frank Langella as his skull-faced nemesis, Skeletor.<\/article>\n

Before Centineo rides in on Battle Cat, he’ll next be seen in the To All the Boys\u00a0<\/em>sequel, as well as another rom-com called\u00a0The Stand-In<\/em>.\u00a0Charlie’s Angels<\/em> is set to hit theaters November 1, 2019.<\/article>\n
