This week, two challengers entered the Top 10 but ultimately flew under last week\u2019s big animated opener.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This Week&#8217;s Top Earner \u2013 &#8216;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World&#8217;<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/MJtPKyuUHsE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the second week in a row, the DreamWorks Animation film came in first place. Though it dropped 45%, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.atomtickets.com\/movies\/how-to-train-your-dragon-the-hidden-world\/142144\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World <\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">still managed to bring in a solid $30 million in the U.S., bringing its worldwide total to $375.3 million, more than double its reported production budget. If the film keeps this up, it\u2019ll be a sizable success for Universal, but it\u2019s unclear whether or not <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Hidden World <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will have the time and momentum to match up with the previous film of this franchise, which finished at $621 million worldwide.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Second Place \u00a0\u2013 &#8216;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tyler Perry\u2019s A Madea Family Funeral&#8217;<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/cyD4a8_DHtQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Good news for Lionsgate. The latest <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Madea <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">film came within shooting distance of <em>The<\/em>\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hidden World <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with $27 million in the U.S. This is of course despite overwhelmingly negative reviews from critics, but that\u2019s to be expected at this point. The audience for Tyler Perry\u2019s family-focused screwball comedy-dramas is still going strong after 11 films and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atomtickets.com\/movies\/tyler-perrys-a-madea-family-funeral\/253216\"><em>A Madea Family Funeral<\/em><\/a> doesn&#8217;t appear to be any different.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And Third \u00a0\u2013 &#8216;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alita: Battle Angel&#8217;<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/E4Fal4EnOqo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Is a sequel happening? Hard to tell at this point. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.atomtickets.com\/movies\/alita-battle-angel\/233304\">Alita: Battle Angel<\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">only brought in $7 million domestically in its third weekend, and with <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Captain Marvel <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on the horizon, that\u2019s sure to drop even further before its run is finished. The film\u2019s only chance is China and other markets overseas, which continue to push the film into franchise-worthy territory with $350.4 million overall. If not for the film\u2019s huge production and marketing budgets, a follow-up would all but be guaranteed at this point.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rounding Out The Rest Of The Top 10<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After a month in theaters, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.atomtickets.com\/movies\/the-lego-movie-2-the-second-part\/209281\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Lego Movie 2 <\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is definitely winding down in a big way. It lost several hundred more theaters this week and made just $6.6 million more domestically ($152.7 million worldwide). Not awesome, but definitely expected with <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How to Train Your Dragon <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">providing stiff competition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Warranted or not, thanks to its Oscar win, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.atomtickets.com\/movies\/green-book\/273307\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Green Book <\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">raced back into the Top 10, climbing from #11 all the way to #5 with $4.7 million domestic ($188 million worldwide). MGM\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.atomtickets.com\/movies\/fighting-with-my-family\/245910\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fighting With My Family <\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sputtered two spots down to #6 with only $4.6 million domestically for $14.9 million total, officially surpassing its reported budget of $11 million.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Like last week, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.atomtickets.com\/movies\/isnt-it-romantic\/250460\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Isn\u2019t It Romantic <\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">dropped two spots, this time to #7 with $4.6 million. Warner Bros. is likely flirting with the film being profitable as it now collects over $40 million worldwide off of a $31 million reported budget. Plus, it\u2019s holding strong over <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.atomtickets.com\/movies\/what-men-want\/261967\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What Men Want<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which fell further to #9 with only $2.7 million domestic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finally, we get to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.atomtickets.com\/movies\/greta\/278263\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Greta<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which debuted at #8. Ouch. The new suspenseful thriller was projected to make at least $6 million, but it only debuted at $4.8 million. The reported budget is not yet public, but considering it was distributed by Focus Features, the film was likely made for less than $10 million so there&#8217;s still time for it to make its money back over the next few weeks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rounding out the Top 10, we have <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.atomtickets.com\/movies\/happy-death-day-2u\/279939\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Happy Death Day 2U<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which dropped three spots to #10 with $2.5 million domestic. It\u2019s doubtful the film will die and wake up with better numbers, but Universal should be pleased with the $9 million budgeted film peaking at over $54 million worldwide.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And They\u2019re Out<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As expected, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cold Pursuit <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Upside <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">dropped into the teens, but as per usual, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Upside <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">held on stronger despite all odds with $2.07 million domestically for #12.
