Gwyneth Paltrow, who for the last 11 years has played Marvel’s Pepper Potts, told Variety<\/a> that she plans to retire from the Marvel Cinematic Universe following her stint in the upcoming Avengers: Endgame<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI mean, I\u2019m a bit old to be in a suit and all that at this point,\u201d Paltrow, 46, told the trade magazine this week. The Oscar-winning actress went on to say, “I feel very lucky that I did it, because I actually got talked into it. I was friend with [\u2018Iron Man\u2019 director] Jon Favreau. It was such a wonderful experience making the first Iron Man<\/em> and then to watch how important it has become to fans.\u201d<\/p>\n Now, intrepid Marvel fans might be reading through the tea leaves at Paltrow’s comment regarding how she is “a bit old to be in a suit.” Credible-ish rumors circulated online since the release of Avengers: Infinity War <\/em>have indicated that\u00a0Paltrow could don a suit in Endgame<\/em>\u00a0and become Rescue, her comic book equivalent. The theory (which you should take with the usual salt grains) is that Potts, last seen planning a wedding with Tony Stark in\u00a0Infinity War<\/em>, will have taken over the Iron Man mantle post-The Snap and has assumed Avengers duties in the absence of the MCU’s most famous “genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist<\/a>.”<\/p>\n The last time Pepper put on a full Stark Tech suit was in 2013’s\u00a0Iron Man 3<\/em>. And if fans don’t get their wish to see her go full Rescue in\u00a0Endgame<\/em>, Paltrow hasn’t ruled out the possibility of coming back from retirement at some point. She told Variety<\/em> that a cameo in future movies, or appearances via flashbacks, are possible.<\/p>\n \u201cI feel honored to be a part of something that people are so passionate about,\u201d she said. \u201cOf course, if they said, \u2018Can you come back for a day?\u2019 I will always be there if they need me.\u201d<\/p>\n
