Jason Momoa is going from Atlantis to outer space. Specifically, a planet covered in sand.<\/p>\n

Deadline<\/a> reports that the\u00a0Aquaman<\/em> star is in talks to the join the already impressive cast of director Denis Villeneuve’s\u00a0Dune<\/em>. Should the deal go through, he will play a character with one of the coolest names in the history of ever: Duncan Idaho.<\/p>\n

Momoa’s casting comes on the heels of Josh Brolin boarding the film, another comic book movie star to bolster the film’s bananas cast<\/a>. In addition to Aquaman and Thanos, the cast includes: Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Charlotte Rampling, and Oscar winner Javier Bardem.<\/p>\n

Based on the classic sci-fi novel by Frank Herbert, the movie centers on Paul Atreides (Chalamet), who calls the desert planet Arrakis (think a\u00a0Game of Thrones<\/em>-y Tatooine) home. Arrakis is the sole producer of Spice, the universe’s most valuable resource \u2013 a resource Paul must lead a rebellion to protect in order to ensure it stays in the controlling hands of his family. (Got all that? Good.)<\/p>\n

The last time\u00a0Dune<\/em> made it to the big screen, it was director David Lynch’s 1984 cult fave that proved to be a costly box office disappointment.<\/p>\n

Here’s hoping Villeneuve and his all-star cast has better luck.\u00a0Dune<\/em> has yet to announce its release date, but word ’round the campfire is it hits theaters in 2021.<\/p>\n
