This week, we\u2019re gearing up to see a modern fantasy adventure, a well-cast mystery thriller, and an indie \u201cbio-epic.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Kid In King Arthur\u2019s Court<\/span><\/h1>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Cg-h8TwQCgs?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Joe Cornish\u2019s last film, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Attack the Block<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, captivated audiences in 2011 with a tight sci-fi horror story about troublesome teens in England teaming up to beat down an alien invasion. This new film from Cornish and 20th Century Fox captures that same spirit but with a family-friendly fantasy story about a kid in modern-day England who finds Excalibur and teams up with his friends and bullies to stop a supernatural invasion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The cast of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atomtickets.com\/movies\/the-kid-who-would-be-king\/249926\"><em>The Kid Who Would Be King<\/em> <\/a>includes Louis Ashbourne Serkis (son of Andy Serkis) as Alexander Elliot, or the future king mentioned in the title. Along with Rebecca Ferguson as the evil Morgana, Angus Imrie and Patrick Stewart star as young and old Merlin, and Tom Taylor, Dean Chaumoo, and Rhianna Dorris as Alexander\u2019s schoolyard knights. It&#8217;s getting solid reviews from critics, so this just might be the charming romp to see this weekend.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>However, if you&#8217;re looking for something darker&#8230;<\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Matthew McConaughey And Anne Hathaway Set A Tense Mood In \u2018Serenity\u2019<\/span><\/h1>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/pP-hQ5B0DQM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No, this isn\u2019t another <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Firefly <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">movie. Originally set to release in October, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.atomtickets.com\/movies\/serenity\/266599\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Serenity <\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is a new film from Aviron Pictures directed by Steven Knight, best known for helming <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Redemption <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Locke<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, but also writing <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pawn Sacrifice <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Allied<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0as well as <em>Peaky Blinders<\/em>. Based on the trailers and early reviews, the film is a neo-noir thriller with a gripping mystery at its center. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The main cast is intriguing enough on its own. Matthew McConaughey stars as Baker, a fishing boat captain who is confronted by his ex-wife Karen (Anne Hathaway), who asks him to help deal with her abusive new husband (Jason Clarke). The cast also includes Djimon Hounsou, Jeremy Strong, Diane Lane, Rafael Sayegh, Kenneth Fok, and Robert Hobbs. Not to spoil anything, but the reviews have hinted at a crazy ending and a WTF plot twist, so if you like your thrillers with a little bit of melodrama, this is for you.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>And for those of you into biopics or international fare&#8230;<\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018In Like Flynn\u2019 Explores The Real Life Of Errol Flynn<\/span><\/h1>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UQ1U2sQ1xjI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of Hollywood\u2019s most legendary performers received his own origin story last October, and now Blue Fox Entertainment is releasing <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.atomtickets.com\/movies\/in-like-flynn\/278571\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Like Flynn <\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in the select U.S. theaters after a few months in Australia and New Zealand. The film is based on <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Beam Ends<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Flynn\u2019s memoir\/novel, and sees Thomas Cocquerel in the titular role.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Directed by Russell Mulcahy (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Highlander <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">series), <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Like Flynn <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">explores the less glamorous early life of the iconic actor before he would go on to reach acclaim in the &#8217;40s and 5&#8217;0s. The cast includes Dan Fogler (whom audiences will know from the <em>Fantastic Beasts<\/em> movies), Isabel Lucas, Corey Large, and Clive Standen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stay tuned next week for our box office recap of how these movies fared at the box office.
