Hosted by Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg, the awards show was full of surprises and some controversial choices made by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.\u00a0 Adam McKay-directed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atomtickets.com\/movies\/vice\/277896\"><em>Vice<\/em><\/a> led all theatrical contenders with six nominations and three other films were up for five awards each:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.atomtickets.com\/movies\/the-favourite\/264825\"><em>The Favourite<\/em><\/a>, the divisive\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.atomtickets.com\/movies\/green-book\/273307\"><em>Green Book<\/em><\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atomtickets.com\/movies\/a-star-is-born\/241805\"><em>A Star is Born<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0On the TV end of things, Ryan Murphy&#8217;s <em>The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story<\/em> led all TV contenders with four nominations.<\/p>\n<p>It was also announced during the nominations ceremony that there would be a new award handed out this year for television as an equivalent of the HFPA&#8217;s\u00a0Cecil B. DeMille Award for film. It was ultimately named the Carol Burnett Award, and, fittingly, the very first person to win the award was its namesake herself. During her moving acceptance speech, which found the theater at the Beverly Hilton on its feet, Burnett reflected upon her barrier-breaking career before ending her speech with her signature signoff: &#8220;I&#8217;m so glad we had this time together.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The rest of the winners are listed below, highlighted in <strong>*bold<\/strong>.
