As kids dive into their candy and everyone else, well, still dives into candy and settle in to watch horror movies, the news also keeps rolling along. This week brings an exciting new project for Tom Holland, Ke Huy Quan getting his flowers, a sneak peek from Wicked, and more.

As always, Atom Insider brings you a few hand-picked stories we think you’ll like. Ready? Let’s dive in.

Tom Holland To Star In Christopher Nolan’s New Movie

Christopher Nolan always keeps the details of his new project pretty tightly wrapped, but we still have some exciting news about his next one: Tom Holland has been tapped to star in it alongside Matt Damon, who was previously cast. It’s a great project for the young actor, who recently shared he’s feeling very pleased with the early scripts of Spider-Man 4. It will be interesting to see how he handles all his upcoming projects, including Spider-Man 4, the Nolan movie, and Avengers: Doomsday, which are all set to shoot in the next year.

Not much is known about the story of the movie, but it’s not set in present day, though whether it’s in the future or the past is unclear. There were also rumors swirling that it will be a horror-tinged vampire movie, but take those with a heavy grain of salt. At the moment, it’s being eyed for a July 17, 2026 release date, but we’ll see if that sticks as Nolan is likely to add other big-name actors who also have schedules to juggle.

Kit Harington & Billy Magnussen To Star In Horse-Racing Comedy ‘Chariot’

Color us intrigued by this new project: Deadline reports that Kit Harington and Billy Magnussen are set to star in Chariot, a horse-racing comedy from Steve Pink. Pink is a dark comedy master, having penned the scripts for Grosse Pointe Blank and High Fidelity and also having directed Hot Tub Time Machine and About Last Night. This new project looks like it will be just as fun, judging from the synopsis:

“Paul Rovia, an oversized jockey, seeks redemption after causing a major racing accident that gets him suspended from the sport for two years. Desperate to compete in the Grand National again, Paul teams up with Kate O’Leary and her wild Centaur named Chariot. Paul and Chariot clash at first but eventually form an unstoppable duo, taking the racing world by storm.”

A Centaur, you say? What a weird, fun idea. Please tell us Harington is the Centaur and Magnussen is the jockey. Either way, we’re in.

An Emily The Strange Animated Adaptation Is In The Works By Moana & Ralph Breaks The Internet Writer

It’s sort of a shock it hasn’t happened yet, but an animated feature adaptation of the beloved character Emily the Strange is finally seeing the light of day. Pamela Ribon is set to adapt a script about the creation from artist Rob Reger and his company Cosmic Debris, which should assure everyone that the project is in good hands: Ribon is the writer behind Moana, Ralph Breaks the Internet, and Nimona, among others. She’s developing the project for Warner Bros. Discovery, who surprisingly, have announced they are planning it for the big screen.

Emily the Strange first came to life in the ’90s, an image created by Reger that was soon everywhere on items from skateboards to t-shirts before becoming a multimedia franchise. Her reach soon expanded to art books, four novels, four graphic novellas, and a comic book series that became a New York Times bestseller. As a child of the ’90s, she embraced the punk, countercultural ethos of the decade with her black, red, and white design and ethos of reminding everyone to be themselves and “stay strange,” she was beloved by teens and young people of the era.

Ke Huy Quan To Star In Action-Thriller Fairytale In New York

Finally, some great news for those of us who root for human golden retriever Ke Huy Quan to succeed (and who doesn’t?). The fairytale Oscar winner has his next fairytale lined up – literally: Lionsgate has announced he’s set to star in their upcoming action-thriller Fairytale in New York. Jalmari Helander, who directed the excellent Finnish action-thriller Sisu, is set to direct. Quan will star as a cab driver in New York City who decides to do one last trip on Christmas Eve before spending time with his estranged son for the holiday. Unfortunately, it turns out to be a mistake as he encounters a group of criminals who steal his son’s irreplaceable Christmas gift, and he must embark on a mission to get it back.

Quan, who won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar in 2023 for his role in Everything Everywhere All At Once, parlayed that into a fan-favorite role as O.B. in Loki season 2. It’s been a bit of a whirlwind for the actor, who had turned to stuntwork and coordination after acting roles dried up for him post-childhood, at one point considering walking away from Hollywood completely before he was cast in EEAAO. Now, Fairytale puts Quan in a position to use his two great gifts: his affable likeability on camera and his prodigious stunt and action experience in front of and behind it. It’s not yet known when the movie will be released but, as always, we’ll keep you updated.

Ariana Grande Might Be Gunning For An Oscar With Her Performance In Wicked

And last but not least, a fun little clip of a week with Ariana Grande on the set of Wicked. The very first social reactions are in and it’s apparently phenomenal. The big buzz so far is for Grande, who plays Galinda/Glinda, and Cynthia Erivo, who plays Elphaba, with the two rocketing into early Oscars contention. Take a look at the above clip and let me know what you think. Could these two ladies bring home an Oscar statue?

Trailers & Clips of the Week

And now, your trailers and clips of the week!

Marvel Studios – Look Ahead 2025 Disney+ Sizzle Reel

Is Marvel officially back?
