Ever since audiences first learned they would be getting a Barbie<\/a><\/strong><\/em> movie, it\u2019s practically been the only thing that anyone has been able to talk about, especially once buzz around the film started to grow following the announcement that Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling would be leading the Greta Gerwig film. One of the most anticipated movies of the year, Barbie <\/em>is shaping up to be complete perfection: from its detailed set design created to mimic plastic toys and all the stickers that parents had to put on them \u2013 a set which also caused a shortage in pink paint \u2013 to the abundance of elaborate outfits that are pulled straight from the dolls over the years. And of course, Barbie is more than just her excellent fashion choices. Having had essentially every career possible, she\u2019s a model for children (and adults) everywhere, letting them know that they can be and do anything that they set their mind to. While Barbie<\/em> may be all about subverting audience expectations, there is one thing you know Barbie is going to give us: incredible fashion. So, let\u2019s look at some of our favorite outfits from the new film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10. Barbie\u2019s Getaway Outfit<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Barbie (Margot Robbie) might be trying something new when she leaves Barbie Land for the Real World, but that doesn\u2019t mean she has to leave behind her impeccable fashion. Driving in her pink convertible, Barbie sports an adorable pink beret atop her braided hair, all tied off with a cute pink bow. And of course, what better outfit to ride off in than a blush pink dress with puffy sleeves and a Peter Pan collar? It\u2019s certainly a more fashionable traveling outfit than our low effort go-to of a sweatshirt and sweatpants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9. Pink Gingham Beach Dress and Hat<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Barbie also wears a similar pink gingham dress and matching belt, but her beach dress and matching floppy hat outshine her day dress. The chunky pink seashell necklace and earrings push the outfit over the top in the best way possible, and it\u2019s so totally Barbie to show up to a beach with a focus on cute fashion over practical swimwear. An adorable side ponytail finishes off the look by keeping Barbie\u2019s hair effortlessly styled and protected from the sand and water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. President Barbie\u2019s Gown<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Barbie dolls have had several presidential-inspired outfits over the years, but many of these are in red, white, and blue color schemes. Issa Rae\u2019s President Barbie goes in a completely different direction though. She sports a lavish pink ballgown with gold embellishments in the Oval Office, a bold statement necklace, and she finishes off the look with a sash across her chest to notably claim her title. President Barbie just proves that you can indeed do anything in a ballgown and high heels, including running Barbie Land. And come on, what leadership role wouldn\u2019t be better with a pop (or several pops) of color?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. Sequin Disco Jumpsuit<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Barbie\u2019s big, perfect waves here give us major hair envy. Talk about goals! When your hair looks this flawless, it really doesn\u2019t even matter what the rest of the outfit looks like, but of course Barbie manages to bring her A-game. While the jumpsuit isn\u2019t pink, it sure is sparkly and covered in enough sequins that Barbie herself could be the disco ball at her party. Matching jewelry and a gorgeous hair bow complete this nighttime party look, but we\u2019re still wondering if our invitation to the celebration got lost in the Barbie Land mail system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. Just Allan<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s only one Allan. While he was sadly discontinued, Allan, played by Michael Cera, gets another chance to make an impression as Ken\u2019s buddy in the upcoming film. What better way to steal the show than in a rainbow-striped shirt, blue shorts, and striking red hair? There are an abundance of Barbie and Ken dolls in the film, but Allan is one of a kind. He\u2019s just Allan, and although he can fit in all of Ken\u2019s clothes, he has a distinctive, hilarious look that is all his own, and is a presence that only Cera could bring to the role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Ken\u2019s Denim Vest<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ryan Gosling\u2019s Ken has a lot of great outfits, including a pink and green striped beach set, but it\u2019s hard to beat denim on denim. Paired with Ken-branded white underwear, this outfit is straight out of a 90s fashion magazine cover, and we couldn\u2019t be more delighted by it. With a bleach blonde haircut, this look just radiates \u201cKenergy\u201d in every possible way imaginable. It\u2019s simple yet iconic, created to compliment Barbie rather than to outshine her, and we fully expect it to be one of this year\u2019s top Halloween costumes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Western Attire<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of the first teases that we got of the new Barbie movie was Barbie in her pink western outfit, which really set the tone for what else was in store for the movie. It\u2019s one of Barbie\u2019s outfits that she wears in the Real World, making her even more likely to stand out amongst the crowd of black suits trying to track her down through Mattel\u2019s offices. The look features lace-up pink bell bottom pants with star embellishments, a matching pink button-up vest, and a pink paisley handkerchief to tie it all together. Of course, the outfit wouldn\u2019t be complete without a stylish white cowboy hat to finish it off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Matching Roller Blading Set<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Those who grew up in the 90s will remember one of the most beloved Barbie dolls to be introduced: Hot Skatin\u2019 Barbie. This doll came with a posable body perfect for both roller skating and ice skating and was decked out in colorful neon pink athleticwear that looks like it was ripped straight from the carpet of a bowling alley \u2013 only way more fashionable \u2013 and is complete with neon yellow roller skates. The only thing that could possibly make this outfit any better would be the perfect accessory: which is made available in none other than a matching Ken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Weird Barbie\u2019s Whole Vibe<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We all knew that one child \u2013 or maybe you were<\/em> that child \u2013 that went wild with their Barbie dolls. We\u2019re talking chopping off their hair, doodling on them with markers, coloring their clothes, and of course, making them constantly do the splits. But these are all just signs of a well-loved doll and a rich imagination. It makes perfect sense that Kate McKinnon would play this unhinged, all-knowing version of Barbie. Sporting choppy hair full of pink and blue streaks, a mismatched tutu and snake boots combination, and colorful tattoos drawn on with marker, Weird Barbie gives us one of the greatest life lessons: it\u2019s okay to let loose, have fun, and be a little outside of the box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. 1959 Striped Bathing Suit<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It would have been a huge miss on Greta Gerwig\u2019s part to not pay tribute to the original 1959 Barbie doll. The first Barbie doll made its appearance at the American International Toy Fair on March 9, 1959 in an iconic and timeless black and white striped swimsuit with matching white sunglasses. And, although it may come as a surprise, this first Barbie was available in both blonde and brunette varieties. Fashion companies around the world have pushed out recreations of the swimsuit over the years, and for its 60th<\/sup> Anniversary, Mattel even created a new matching black and white striped dress for the doll in homage to Barbie\u2019s roots. Barbie has brought inspiration and creativity to many over the years, but there is nothing that can beat the classic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
