We\u2019re halfway through July, and summer movie season is chugging along. Even with the writers\u2019 strike, and now the actors’ strike, Hollywood news isn\u2019t slowing down. This week finds Superman: Legacy<\/em> quickly filling out its cast, Oppenheimer <\/em>reactions, the first look at Deadpool 3<\/em>, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Superman: Legacy Add Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion & More To The Cast<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy<\/em> is quickly rounding out its cast. After an exhaustive search for its leads, the project announced David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan in the roles of Clark Kent\/Superman and Lois Lane. Now, there is news that Barry<\/em>‘s Anthony Carrigan has been added to the cast as the superhero Metamorpho. Considering it was also just announced that Carrigan had snagged an Emmy nomination for his work on Barry<\/em>, it’s been a great week for the actor. He joins a cast that also recently added Nathan Fillion as the Guy Gardner version of Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gunn, who is now the new co-head of DC Studios along with Peter Safran, will be directing the pic off a script he wrote. The project is planned to be a reset of sorts for the DCU, bringing it in a new direction that hopefully works this time. Gunn recently posted on Threads about the process and his excitement is palpable. “Superman: Legacy<\/em> opens two years from today. It may seem far away to many of you, but it\u2019s close to me!,” he said. “We have a lot to do between now and then. But I haven\u2019t been more excited about a project in forever\u2026 and this cast, slowly coming together\u2026 holy cow\u2026”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Superman: Legacy<\/em> is currently is planned for release on July 11, 2025. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tron: Ares Is Also Adding A Few Notable Names To Its Cast<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Last week, it was reported that Tron: Ares<\/em> had added Jodie Turner-Smith and Greta Lee<\/a> to the cast, and the news for the Disney threequel continues. This week, two more names have been added: Deadline<\/a> reports that Cameron Monaghan (Gotham<\/em>, Shameless<\/em>) has been cast, along with Yellowjackets<\/em>‘ Sarah Desjardins. Clearly, Disney wanted to get its talent signed before the SAG-AFTRA strike kicked in, and the work has paid off. Joachim R\u00f8nning will be directing the pic, which will follow Jared Leto’s computer program, Ares, as he ventures into the human world. Other than that, plot details are being kept under wraps. While there is no official release date, Tron: Ares<\/em> is eyeballing a release some time in 2025. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyone who knows movies or Christopher Nolan has suspected that Oppenheimer<\/em> would be something special. Now, the first reactions are in for the movie and they’ve confirmed what we’ve all known for a while: Oppenheimer <\/em>is a staggering accomplishment.
