No, really. Swear to God. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact, not only is it in production, today, the first pictures were shared. The most exciting is the first look of Tom Holland as a young Nathan Drake, which he shared on his social media:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter aligncenter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">It\u2019s nice to meet you, I\u2019m Nate. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/uncharted?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#uncharted<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/v79Mvy26iH\">pic.twitter.com\/v79Mvy26iH<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Tom Holland (@TomHolland1996) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TomHolland1996\/status\/1319299253425049605?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 22, 2020<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Even though Holland is universally beloved, plenty of fans were skeptical of him playing Nathan Drake, as the Nathan Drake from the video games is a grizzled adventurer and treasure hunter well into his 30s. But I think Holland looks great here, no? Granted, it&#8217;s not like Nathan Drake&#8217;s uniform of cargo pants and a Henley shirt is particularly unique, but with simply a picture, Holland once again shows his natural charisma. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Plus, can I take a moment to mention the hair? It looks far better than I had hoped considering the first costume test hair he posted a few months back, which, uh&#8230;well. (But seriously, can we please for real <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cheatsheet.com\/entertainment\/tom-holland-might-have-a-chance-to-play-his-dream-disney-role.html\/\">get him to play Milo in the live-action remake of <em>Atlantis<\/em><\/a>?)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But that wasn&#8217;t the only picture we got today. The second is a heavily-jeweled relic that  looks like something between a sword hilt and a modified Papal cross. I&#8217;ve never played the games, so gamers, if that relic is something specific to the franchise or an Easter egg, let ya girl know. The last pic is a shot of an open copy of Francis Henry Hill Guillemard\u2019s 1890 biography of Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan, <em>The Life of Ferdinand Magellan, and the First Circumnavigation of the Globe<\/em>. The official <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/unchartedmovie\/status\/1319262546864476160\"><em>Uncharted<\/em> Twitter account<\/a> also shared that last pic with a quote from the explorer: &#8220;Meet the shadowy future without fear and conquer the unknown.&#8221; It&#8217;s fair to guess that whatever sets Nathan Drake off on his adventure, it will have to do with Magellan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These first pictures are fantastic, but it begs the question: Where&#8217;s our first look of Mark Wahlberg as Victor &#8220;Sully&#8221; Sullivan, Nathan&#8217;s mentor and father figure? Or Antonio Banderas in his thus-far unnamed role? With any luck, those won&#8217;t be far behind. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thus far, we don&#8217;t know much about the story \u2013\u00a0which makes sense, considering the fact that the script has been rewritten half a dozen times. Holland <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/news\/2490451\/tom-holland-reveals-which-uncharted-game-especially-inspired-the-movie\">has said before<\/a> the film will take inspiration from <em>Uncharted 4: A Thief\u2019s End<\/em>, which had players controlling a younger Nathan Drake. That game also saw flashback cut scenes of Nathan and his brother, Sam, breaking out of their orphanage and then sneaking into their late mother&#8217;s mansion to get some of her belongings. It&#8217;s also worth noting that in some territories, the Uncharted movie is also going by the name <em>Uncharted: Drake&#8217;s Fortune<\/em>, which is also the name of the first video game in the series. That video game finds Nathan teaming up with Sully and journalist Elena Fisher to find the lost treasure of El Dorado. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whatever story they go with, Holland is one of our most charismatic young actors and it should be a great deal of fun to see him on screen again. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After many, many years (it&#8217;s been 12) and many, many directors (it&#8217;s been seven), Sony&#8217;s long-awaited Uncharted movie is finally coming.
