It\u2019s when I really feel like fall is in the air. It\u2019s when I make my annual trip to the local cider mill for a cup of hot cider and a warm donut. It\u2019s when I would normally go to local haunts and enjoy\u00a0hay rides, corn mazes, haunted houses, and more. From the smell of fire smoke in the air to the crunch of dry leaves under my feet, everything about October is just perfect.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So\u00a0what\u2019s the best way to improve upon perfection? By loading up on horror movies, of course. That\u2019s why this month will see me tackle 10 upcoming movies that are sure to elicit screams, laughs, disgust, and who knows what else. After all, this list includes\u00a0werewolves, evil clowns, witches,\u00a0post-apocalyptic pig-men hybrids, evil morticians, and more. How does one look someone in the eyes when they supposedly murdered you? What are you supposed to do? How are you supposed to act? In\u00a0<em>They Live Inside Us<\/em>, Jake (played by co-writer James Morris, who also plays the creatures)\u00a0must deal with a masked killer, a scarecrow, a vampire, and an evil clown. He guides her through his collection, sharing four stories of wild, unique, and memorable deaths.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why You Should Check It Out:\u00a0<\/strong>I caught this at Fantastic Fest last year and have been dying (no pun intended) to revisit\u00a0it (in the meantime, you can read Alisha&#8217;s review <a href=\"https:\/\/atomtickets.com\/movie-news\/the-mortuary-collection-review\/\">here<\/a>).\u00a0The best way to go into this one is to think of it as a collection of <em>Goosebumps<\/em> stories that were actually written for adults. It\u2019s got all the simplicity and charm of\u00a0an R.L. Stine\u00a0story\u00a0but it doesn\u2019t shy away from being a dark, sometimes vicious movie. Don\u2019t miss this one!\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">9. &#8216;Don\u2019t Look Back&#8217; \u2013 October 16\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"DON&#039;T LOOK BACK (2020) Official Trailer (HD) SUPERNATURAL\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uowN1AFsKWg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Subgenre: \u201c<\/strong><strong>Where Are&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>The<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;Boondock Saints?<\/strong><strong>\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Official Synopsis:&nbsp;<\/strong>When a young woman overcoming her traumatic past is among several witnesses who see a man fatally assaulted and don&#8217;t intervene, they find themselves targeted by someone, or something, out for revenge.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why You Should Check It Out:\u00a0<\/strong>Writer\/director Jeffrey Reddick is the guy who came up with the\u00a0<em>Final Destination<\/em>\u00a0series, so you know <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.atomtickets.com\/movies\/dont-look-back\/312319\">Don&#8217;t Look Back<\/a><\/em> will be something wickedly fun. Plus, it stars Jeremy Holm, who played the titular character in the punk rock horror film\u00a0<em>The Ranger<\/em>, so it\u2019s already good in my book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">10. &#8216;Love and Monsters&#8217; \u2013\u00a0October 16\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"LOVE AND MONSTERS | Official Trailer | Paramount Movies\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mGJHac4vcgA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Subgenre: \u201c<\/strong><strong>I Get That Love Defies All Odds&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>But<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;C\u2019mon! Mom wants a&nbsp;comedy?&nbsp;Check. Dad likes romance&nbsp;films?&nbsp;That\u2019s a bingo! Little Fluffy &#8211; that rascally cat! \u2013 wants a post-apocalyptic tale where humans are hunted by monstrous creatures? Take that cat to the pound and never look back.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But in all seriousness, sometimes the best way to enjoy the Halloween season is with the ones we love.
