That&#8217;s led to mining other mediums for adaptation inspiration, from turning hit Broadway musical <em>Hamilton<\/em> into a theatrical version to turning biographies for great biopics to finding weird, cult comic books and graphic novels to spin into TV series. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Still, books remain the main source of movie adaptations, thanks to them being, well, books. The second half of this year alone is filled with <a href=\"https:\/\/atomtickets.com\/movie-news\/2020-movies-based-on-books\/\">movies based on books<\/a>, none more anticipated than Denis Villeneuve&#8217;s adaptation of Frank Herbert&#8217;s <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.atomtickets.com\/movies\/dune\/288159\">Dune<\/a><\/em>. I was curious about what books or short stories people would love to see turned into a movie so I asked Twitter a question:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">If you could take any book or short story that hasn&#39;t been made into a movie yet (that you know of), what would it be and who would you cast in the leads?<\/p>&mdash; Alisha Grauso (@AlishaGrauso) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AlishaGrauso\/status\/1278770307717664768?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 2, 2020<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>And I got an avalanche of answers. Most of them were unexpected, many were fun to envision, and others were spot-on. Here are some of the best responses I got. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It shouldn&#8217;t surprise anyone to know that Stephen King led the pack, including my own suggestion:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I&#39;ve already said this before, but one of my choices would be adapting <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/StephenKing?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@StephenKing<\/a>&#39;s &quot;Survivor Type&quot; and casting Cillian Murphy as Richard Pine.
