Now April has come and gone feeling like an eternity and a blink of an eye at the same time. I guess quarantining oneself tends to have that effect.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">To meme things up a little,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">we\u2019ve moved beyond April and now\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sesamecommunications.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/may-300x293.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">it\u2019s\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">gonna<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0be May<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">. This month offers some pretty interesting horror titles across a variety of platforms. When the father (Richard Armitage) is forced to abruptly depart for work, he leaves his children, Aidan (<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">IT<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u2018<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">s Jaeden Martell) and Mia (Lia McHugh) in the care of his new girlfriend, Grace (Riley Keough). Isolated and alone, a blizzard traps them inside the lodge as terrifying events summon specters from Grace\u2019s dark past.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Why You Should Check It Out:\u00a0<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Yes, this was written about only a few months back. However, this column was originally supposed to focus on movies coming to theaters. Since then, and for hopefully very obvious reasons, it\u2019s pivoted to VOD titles, which is why\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">The Lodge<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0is making a repeat appearance.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">A movie all about isolation, although here it\u2019s forced and not voluntary,\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">The Lodge<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.atomtickets.com\/movie-news\/the-lodge-review-overlook-film-festival\/\">might very well be the catharsis that many need<\/a> right now. While some shy away from entertainment that\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">too closely mirrors reality, some need that in order to face what\u2019s happening right outside our front doors. And while\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">The Lodge<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0isn\u2019t about a pandemic, it\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">is<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0about the effects of forced confinement and all that comes with such a situation.
