It marks the end of the awards season cycle, and everyone in the industry pays attention to who wore what and <a href=\"https:\/\/atomtickets.com\/movie-news\/oscars-2020-winners\/\">who won what for which film.<\/a> However, for those of us who aren\u2019t being dressed by Versace or Dolce and Gabbana (that means us normies), the wins aren\u2019t necessarily the most memorable moments of the evening.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For example, who could forget the 86th Academy Awards in 2014, John Travolta introduced Tony Award winner and Oscar nominee Idina Menzel as \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ew.com\/article\/2014\/03\/04\/john-travolta-idina-menzel-oscars\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Adele Dazeem<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u201d\u00a0 Or, how in 2018, Google searches for the words \u201cinclusion rider\u201d soared because <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.harpersbazaar.com\/culture\/film-tv\/a19081077\/frances-mcdormand-oscars-speech-transcript-2018\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Frances McDormand used her acceptance speech<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for her Best Actress win to make a demand to include the contract provision in all projects. And of course, the infamous 2017 Oscar flub when Warren Beatty announced the wrong film as the Best Picture winner and accidentally awarded <em>La La Land<\/em> with the honor only to have <em>La La Land<\/em> producer Jordan Horowitz graciously realize the error and step up to the microphone to announce <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2017\/02\/27\/entertainment\/academy-awards-mistake-what-happened\/index.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the correct winner, <em>Moonlight<\/em>.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Buckle up, my friends, because here are the best moments from the 2020 Oscars.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>1. Of course, both knocked it out of the park and Monae slayed when she proudly proclaimed, \u201cI am proud to stand here as a Black queer artist. Yeah.&#8221; -Chris Rock) as well as the lack of nominees of color, noting that there was only one Black person nominated in an acting category this year, Cynthia Erivo.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>3. BUT, in between a nap, I awoke to see Maya Rudolph and Kristen Wiig essentially pitching themselves to the legendary directors present (We saw you looking, Marty!), these two comedy queens made sure their time presenting was not wasted. After presenting the award for Best Production Design to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atomtickets.com\/movies\/once-upon-a-time-in-hollywood\/267807\"><em>Once Upon A Time&#8230;In Hollywood<\/em><\/a>, the icons sang a medley before diving into Best Costume Design, and honestly, they may have saved the show for the first hour. GIVE US MORE FUNNY LADIES, HOLLYWOOD!<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>4. EMINEM&#8230;At The Oscars&#8230;In 2020<\/h2>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Eminem with a SURPRISE <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Oscars?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Oscars<\/a> performance of &quot;Lose Yourself,&quot; the 2003 Academy Award winner for Best Original Song <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/gpnrsfrTCj\">pic.twitter.com\/gpnrsfrTCj<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; MTV NEWS (@MTVNEWS) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MTVNEWS\/status\/1226695501682290693?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 10, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a show where most big numbers are announced well in advance, Eminem took the stage to perform one of his biggest hits, \u201cLose Yourself.\u201d I\u2019m not quite sure what this had to do with this year\u2019s Oscars, but the Academy probably figured people were comatose after 90 minutes of nothing and he definitely woke them up (<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AlishaGrauso\/status\/1226695295972462592\">especially Brie Larson<\/a>). So, YAY Eminem!<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>5. Salma Hayek, however, is one of only a handful of Latinas to have been nominated for an Acting category (Rita Moreno is still the only Latina to have won&#8230;in 1961) for her starring role in her passion project, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Frieda<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Though the moment was brief, it spoke volumes to an industry that relies on Latinos (who drive over 25% of the box office) but refuses to recognize them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>6. Honestly, that line kinda made up for the movie itself.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>7. We need to hear your voices.&#8221; So much of the Oscars feels manufactured every year, but every so often you get a completely touching moment like this.<\/p>\n<h2>9. It only took 92 years for the Academy to realize great movies are made outside of our ingrained perceptions of what constitutes a &#8220;good&#8221; or deserving film and you know what?
