Regardless of how you feel about the Disney live-action remakes, there’s no arguing that they’ve been monster hits for the studio and have helped push the studio into a historic box office year in 2019.<\/p>\n
It looks like the next classic Disney animated movie to get the live-action treatment is Bambi. THR<\/a> is reporting that Disney has hired Captain Marvel<\/em> writer Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Chaos Walking<\/em> writer Lindsey Beer to develop the script for the project.<\/p>\n Sources have also told THR that Disney views the Bambi remake as a companion piece to The Jungle Book<\/em> and The Lion King<\/em>, and will employ the same live-action-but-make-it-CGI photorealism used in those two films for Bambi. However, unlike the previous two films (which combined accounted for just over $2.5 billion dollars at the box office), the studio is aware that there is no grandly epic tale in Bambi<\/em> and has no plans to reframe the story for one. It will be interesting to see Disney’s photorealistic nature approach to a story that is much smaller in scale and scope. Can photorealism create a sense of intimacy? Disney will certainly try.<\/p>\n
